Learner Quick-Start Guide

Use this article if you wish to find any information on platform navigation and we've also included some best practices you can follow!

If you've never created a Kubicle account before you will receive an invitation to join the platform.

 

Example of an invite you would see in your inbox that is sent from "hello@kubicle.com"

Read the invitation click on "Accept Invitation" to create your Kubicle account.

This will take you to our website where you will create a password for your account.

 

Once you've logged into Kubicle, the first area of our platform you will see is the "Learner Dashboard"

This is where you will spend a lot of your time on Kubicle and it is where you'll begin a course!

 

The top of your learner dashboard can be broken down into three sections:

 Admin Assigned Semester

Courses found within this tab have been mandated by your admin and usually have a start and due date associated to them, be sure to keep on track of them!

 Independent Learning Path

Learning paths share similarities to an admin assigned semester however there are no start or due dates associated to them so take as long as you need with these ones!

 Individual Saved Content

If you've saved a specific course, you will find it within this tab, courses within "Saved Content" don't have any start or due dates.

2 - Milestone Information Details such as "Due Date" and milestone completion progress can be found here.
3 - Course Selection You will begin or resume a course from this section

What is a Milestone?

Milestones are strategic checkpoints within a semester, designed to guide learners through their courses and projects in a structured manner. They serve as achievable goals, breaking down the learning process into manageable segments. Think of milestones as guiding markers on the educational journey, making the learning experience more focused and attainable

 

Skill Check

When your admin has assigned you a semester you may have to complete a skill check first before you can complete any courses.

 

The skill check may impact what content is "Mandatory" and "Optional" for you and they are used mainly for statistic purposes.

 

To begin and complete a skill check follow the steps below:

1. Click on the milestone you would like to begin and click on "Take Skill Check"

 

2. Answer each "Yes" or "No" question provided

 

3. Complete every section and then click "Submit Skill Check"

The above is an example screenshot of what a completed skill check will look like.

 

4. Once you have submit your skill check you should notice that the milestone you completed the skill check for has been unlocked.

Lesson View

When you've begun a lesson you will be presented with our "Lesson View" screen.

 

The lesson view can be broken down into three sections.

1 - Video Player and Lesson Tools

You will watch lessons here and can also utilize the playback speed feature to find your personal preference of speed.

You can also find helpful lesson related information from tabs such as "Overview" "Summary" "Lesson Files" and "Transcript"

2- Contents, Notes and Shortcuts

In this section you can select "Contents" to view all the course lessons, exercises and you'll also find the exam at the bottom of this list!

If you click on "My Notes" you'll also have the ability to create timestamped notes for this course.

Specific to our excel courses we also provide a section for shortcuts that you can download too!

3 - Lesson Selection

Here you're able to select whatever lesson you want from the course, you can favorite these lessons too by clicking the star icon which will be found in your "Saved Content"

Other items included in this section are the "Exercises" and course exam.

Summary You will find time stamped summaries of the lesson here
Lesson Files

We offer lesson files for you to follow along with the instructions you see in these lessons.

Completing the "Before" lesson file is highly recommended and you can compare your work with the "After" lesson file we provide.

Transcript

This is a timestamped transcript on the lesson, you can also use this feature in combination with the "My Notes" section to create some great notes!

 

Exercises

 

Throughout our courses you will find "Exercises" these are used for personal development to ensure you have a solid understanding of the previous lessons.

 

Section Definition of Section
1 - Overview, Exercise and Solution

Exercises come in three parts, "Overview" will give you a brief overview on the exercise

"Exercise" is where you will provide all of your answers 

"Solution" is a video you can view once you're finished with your exercise to cross reference information.

2 - Information Window

Depending on what tab you select at the top this region will change.

The screenshot is showing a view of the "B" tab and this is where you'll input all your answers to the questions.

You will also be provided with an exercise file to complete.

Exercises are not marked and don't have a pass rate, it is highly recommend to complete each exercise for the benefit of your understanding on the topic!

Course Exams

At the end of the contents list within a course you'll find the course exam, completion of this exam will award you with a certificate.

 

Here is the first screen you'll see before beginning your exam:

You will find details such as:

  • Required Software
  • Average Completion Time
  • Exam Time Limit
  • Pass Mark

 

This is what an exam attempt looks like and it can be broken down into three sections:

 

Section Definition of Section
1 - Information on the Exam Information such as how many questions are inside the exam and how to format your answers can be found here.
2 - Exam Questions The answers you obtain from the dataset will be typed into the text boxes of the associated question.
3 - Time Limit and Data Set Download You will find the exam time limit and option to download the exam data set from here.

 

If you submit the exam and fail you will see the screen below:

 

This screen will give you details on your correct and incorrect answers, it will also provide you with a helpful lesson that will assist you in answering that question if you do see it in your next exam!

 

You can also click on the star to favorite a lesson which can become a focus point for you.

 

You can also retake the exam from this screen.

 

Exams can be attempted as many times as you wish, be mindful that with each new attempt you will be provided with a new dataset so be sure to download a new one each time!

Exams are also randomized each time you attempt them so don't rely on the same data set to answer your questions!

 

Upon successful completion of an exam you will receive a certificate which looks like the image below

Learning Paths

Learning Paths combine specific courses and tools into one experience to teach you a given skill from start to finish.

 

Our in-house experts have created Learning Paths that align to your knowledge level, to help you develop the right skills in the right order.



Each learning path is comprised of individual courses and projects that can provide you with a more holistic set of skills and knowledge to help you grow and succeed in your chosen area of study.

 

Learning Paths are also an independent journey which have no admin involvement so there is no due dates associated to enrollment and they also award you with a diploma of completion once all courses have been completed alongside the certificates you'd achieve during each successful exam completion.

 

To enroll in a learning path follow the steps below.

 

1. Click on "Paths" which can be found at the top of your screen

 

2. Filter by your desired tool if you wish and once you're happy with the filter review the learning paths shown and click it to view the learning path contents

 

3. You can view the course contents and overall duration of the learning path on the left hand side, once you're happy with these details click on "Start Path" and this will assign the learning path to your learner dashboard.

 

4. The learning path will add to the row of tabs on your learner dashboard and it will provide you with "Diploma Progress" the course structure and an option to "Remove Learning Path"

Removing learning paths will not delete any progress you have made with the courses, these learning paths can be re-added at a later stage too!

Saved Content

If you wish to have a more targeted approach to your learning Kubicle also offers users the ability to enroll in any of our courses on an individual basis.

 

This "Saved Content" section is where you'll also find your saved lessons and saved courses.

 

To enroll in an individual course follow the steps below.

 

1. Click on "Library" which can be found at the top of your screen

 

2. Similar to our Learning Paths you will need to find the subject you would like to learn and click on it.

 

3. Once you've selected the subject you wish to learn you will be presented with the course list for that subject, you will be provide with some key details on the course and also have a "+" icon that you can click on to save this course to your learner dashboard.

 

4. Once the "+" has been clicked you can click on the hyper linked "Saved Content" and this will take you to the "Saved Content" section of your learner dashboard.

 

5. From this screenshot you can see the course we added to our "Saved Content" and you can also see our "Favourite Lessons" on the right hand side.

Saving individual courses is a great way to focus your learning and obtain some certification in whatever topics you wish!

Syncing with your Calendar

Kubicle offers learners the ability to import semester start and end dates to your calendar.

This is an excellent way to stay on top of your mandatory learning.

 

To sync Kubicle to your calendar follow the steps below:

1. Access the Feature: Log into your Kubicle account and navigate to the 'Calendar Sync' section. This can be found under your profile settings or via your Semester dashboard.

 

 

2. Google Calendar Button: Click on the "Sync with Google Calendar" button.

Automatic Addition: This action opens your Google Calendar with a prompt to add the Kubicle Calendar. Confirm the addition, and your Kubicle milestones will automatically populate in your Google Calendar.

Syncing with Outlook Calendar

  1. Access the Feature: In your Kubicle account, go to the 'Calendar Sync' section. This can be found under your profile settings or via your Semester dashboard.

  2. Outlook Calendar Button: Click on the 'Sync with Outlook Calendar' button.

  3. Automatic Addition: This will open your Outlook Calendar and prompt you to add the Kubicle Calendar. Once confirmed, your Kubicle milestones will be integrated into your Outlook Calendar.

Manual Integration

For additional flexibility or for use with different calendar applications, you can manually add the Kubicle milestones using the iCal URL.

  1. Access the Feature: Visit the 'Calendar Sync' section in your Kubicle account.

  2. Copy iCal URL: Click the 'Copy to Clipboard' button next to the iCal URL in the 'Manual Integration' section.

  3. Add to Your Calendar:

  • For Google Calendar: Go to your Google Calendar, click on the '+' next to 'Other calendars', select 'From URL', and paste the iCal link.

  • For Outlook Calendar: In Outlook, select 'Add Calendar', choose 'From Internet', and paste the iCal link.

  • For Other Calendars: Follow the specific instructions for adding an iCal subscription in your calendar application, pasting the URL when prompted.

Troubleshooting & Support

If you experience any issues or would like support on a query you may have follow the steps below to contact support:

 

1. Click on the icon with your initials at the top right of your screen and then click "Support"

 

2. You can search through our knowledge base articles with the search bar or click on the categories below to check out any articles we have or if you wish to tell us about your concern click on "Raise a Support Ticket" to speak with an agent from our support team.

4. Once you've clicked on "Submit" our support team will be notified and we will investigate your query!

 

Certificates & Diplomas Dashboard

Throughout your Kubicle journey all your certificates and diplomas can be found in their dedicated dashboard.

 

To locate and use this dashboard follow the steps below:

 

1. Locate the "Certificates and Diplomas" section found in the screenshot below and click on it

 

2. The top section of this web page will show all of the diplomas you've been awarded and the bottom half will show every certificate you obtained.

There are two icons you'll be able to use when viewing this dashboard:

This icon allows you to create a post to your LinkedIn network about your Kubicle victory

This icon allows you to download the certificate or diploma to your device for use later on.


If you've clicked on the download icon it will take you to a new page and you will have to click the icon found in the screenshot below to download the certificate to your device.

At the time of a successful exam completion Kubicle does also send your certificate via email from the "hello@kubicle.com" email address
