Understanding Skill Checks

Kubicle Skill Checks are hyper-focused, AI-assisted assessments designed to test your knowledge at the very start of your learning journey. Rather than a "one-size-fits-all" curriculum, these assessments analyze your current proficiency to ensure your time is spent where it matters most.

How Skill Checks Tailor Your Learning Journey

Based on your performance and how you self-assess during these checks, your your learning semester dynamically updates:

  • Mandatory vs. Optional: High-priority gaps in knowledge will be marked as Mandatory, while areas where you show familiarity may be marked as Optional.

  • Testing Out: Depending on your learning group's semester configuration, a successful Skill Check can give you the green light to test out or skip modules entirely.

  • The Proficiency Benchark: To demonstrate a strong proficiency in a topic and unlock these shortcuts, you need to score 80% or higher on the Skill Check.

  • Semester Configurations: Depending on your learning group's specific semester setup, a successful Skill Check can allow you to skip content you have already mastered, fast-tracking your progress through the curriculum.

Timing & Technical Rules

To provide an accurate baseline of your skills, our assessments use a live environment:

  • The 1-Minute Rule: Once a question appears, you have 1 minute to provide an answer.

  • The Active Timer: The timer begins the moment you start the assessment and cannot be paused.

  • Automatic Progression: If the timer runs down or you step away from your computer, the system assumes the question is unknown and will move forward to ensure the assessment remains time-bound and secure.

Best Practices for Learners

  1. Focus: Only begin a Skill Check when you have roughly 5-6 minutes of uninterrupted time.

  2. Environment: Ensure you are in a distraction-free environment before clicking "Start."

Tip: Don't be discouraged by a low Skill Check score! Its primary job is to act as a GPS, identifying exactly which content will be most valuable for your professional development.
